Fall Fishing In Florida

Published October 6th, 2021 by Captain John Blenker

Fall in Florida is here. Fishing has been on fire. Although business has been slow, I still am running charters and the weather has been absolutely beautiful. Customers have been inquiring about “Red Tide”. Whenever I take my boat out I check the Florida Fish and Wildlife Web site as they have monitors placed in out waters. So far we have not seen any in the waters I target doing the fall. South East side of Tampa Bay have been clean. We have been getting snook, redfish and trout catch and release only. Mangrove snapper bite has been really good. Last week we hooked 25 sharks on one trip and caught a limit of mangrove snapper. We have been getting grouper but have not caught legal sized one so all were released unharmed. Spanish mackerel are back and last week we landed a 25″ Mackerel. On my off days I have been fishing in the flats around Snead Island and have been hooking an inshore slam almost everyday (snook, redfish, trout). All fish are being released unharmed.

Hope to see you all out on charters soon.
