As an avid angler and fishing guide, I believe that having the right fishing gear can make all the difference on the water. Over the years, I've discovered some fantastic fishing tackle shops in Palmetto and Bradenton that not only offer great products but also embody the spirit of our fishing community. To me a good tackle shop provide tools for my trade as a Tampa Bay fishing guide.

Palmetto Bait and tackle is one of my top picks. Their knowledgeable staff always takes the time to help you find exactly what you need, whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro. Owner Brian and employee Dennis are especially knowledgeable. They have a fantastic range of gear, including local baits that work wonders on our waters. I once had a memorable fishing trip with Brian the owner to some of the best hogfish fishing spots, which led me to snag my biggest catch yet. They carry “Bull Bay Rods”, Florida Fishing Product reels, Shimano reels and others. All of which I use on my fishing charters.

Fisherman’s Headquarters is another gem, conveniently located in downtown Bradenton. Their shelves are stocked with everything from conventional tackle to specialty items that you won't find in larger chains. What I love most about this shop is the owner John who is always more than willing to share local fishing tips along with solving world problems. John is very supportive of local kids fishing events in the area. John has a great selection of Okuma rods and reels as well as other brands.

Next, I'd like to highlight Crowder Brothers Ace hardware, a true staple in the community. This shop has a rich history and is well-known for its involvement in local fishing events. They carry exclusive brands that cater to local fishing styles. I enjoyed many afternoons here, and found that they had a specific lure that none of the other tackle shops carry.

The above shops are owned and operated by long time fisherman. They are locally owned and have an awesome selection of some locally produced lures and tackle. By supporting these local businesses you are not only supporting them but the fishing community as a whole.
