Red Grouper With My Daughter Paige on Her 14th Birthday

Published March 15th, 2021 by John Blenker

Got a chance to go out with Charlie on “Andiamo” for a day of Red Grouper fishing on the gulf yesterday. Charlie and I fish together often both inshore and offshore. We armed our tackle boxes and loaded our favorite “Florida FishingProduct Reels: and drove 35 miles

west of Anna Maria Island in search of hard bottom sea floor, which is ideal habitat for these big red grouper. The morning bite was one after another catching four keeper grouper in a matter of less than an hour. We caught approximately three shorts, vented them and released them back to catch them another day. I actually caught one of the keepers on a live gulf shrimp on a “Red Bone” rod matched with a “Florida Fishing Products” reel. My daughter Paige caught two nice keepers on an “Okuma” rod paired with a “Florida Fishing Products” reel. Had a great day with Paige and got to see her catch the biggest fish of her life and make some favorite memories together. The morning bite was on fire but then shut off and never came back on. We still had a great time.

We ate baked grouper tacos when we got home.
