Spring Snook Fishing at Its Finest

Published March 18th, 2021 by John Blenker

Normally I do not target Snook, Redfish or Seatrout due to the fact that they are “no take” and have been for over two years as a result of a devastating “Red Tide” our coastline experienced. Yesterday I took a charter with some regular customers from Iowa that wanted some fast action Snook fishing and of course the Snook were on fire. We hooked over 30 on a half day charter and had a blast. All fish were released unharmed to catch another day. Springtime fishing does not get any better than that. I am an advocate of catch and release of all species and if a legal fish is kept that it is preserved fresh and consumed. Thanks to my regular customers during these Pandemic times for keeping my business open.

On other charters this past week we landed gag grouper (Catch and release), Spanish mackerel, pompano, mangrove snapper, white grunts, a guitarfish and a big sting ray. Fun was had by all.
